Amy Olson is a Connecticut nonprofit compliance attorney whose path to law was shaped by more than two decades of direct involvement in the nonprofit sector. She founded her practice with a straightforward conviction: that charitable organizations deserve sophisticated legal guidance without the overhead of a large firm or the impersonal service that often comes with it.

What makes Amy’s perspective distinctive is that she’s been on the other side of the table. As Vice Chair and Governance Committee Chair of Healing Hands of Joy which is an international nonprofit dedicated to supporting women in Ethiopia affected by obstetric fistula, she has spent years wrestling with the governance questions her clients face every day: how to structure a board, how to draft bylaws that actually work, how to balance mission with accountability. That lived experience informs everything she does for her clients.

Amy completed her Juris Doctor at New York Law School, where she was awarded a Dean's Scholarship and gained hands-on experience through the Nonprofit and Small Business Clinic, advising real clients, drafting engagement letters and legal memoranda, and assisting organizations with formation filings. She is admitted to practice law in Connecticut.

Before law school, Amy co-founded Global Closet, LLC, an online marketplace connecting socially conscious shoppers with cause-related products benefiting women in developing countries. She understands the entrepreneurial energy and resource constraints that drive small nonprofit organizations, because she has lived them.

She also served as a Docent at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for over a decade, leading tours for school groups and adults alike, an experience that sharpened her ability to take complex subjects and make them genuinely accessible which is a skill that turns out to be very useful when explaining IRS compliance to a busy executive director.

Amy holds a Master of Arts from Georgetown University with an emphasis in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Pepperdine University. Her international perspective gives her particular insight into the legal needs of organizations doing cross-border work, serving global communities, or partnering with overseas entities.

Amy maintains a virtual practice and serves clients throughout Connecticut.
